Yesterday, we announced that we are initiating a Request for Proposal (RFP) process for our new Field Services Agreement (FSA) commencing in 2025. The FSA is our maintenance and fault response services contract, currently held by Northpower until December 2024.
Over the last 14 years, Northpower has played a pivotal role in helping us become one of New Zealand’s leading electricity distribution companies for network performance and reliability. We recognise Northpower’s ongoing commitment to meeting this outcome.
We must ensure that electricity consumers continue to get the best value for money as we prepare for increased electricity demand over the next 30 years. It’s good business practice and is expected by our shareholders, stakeholders, and regulators. That’s why we’ve made the decision to release the RFP to market on 1 June 2024.
In the meantime, our immediate focus remains the same. There is no change to the current FSA and we will continue to work with Northpower to keep the lights on across the communities we serve.
We expect to make a decision on our preferred supplier by the end of October 2024. Any enquiries about the RFP process can be made via email to RFPenquiries@welectricity.co.nz.
