Smaller systems with capacity of 10 kilowatts or less (≤10kW)
Smaller systems are typically installed in residential sites, with solar panels being the most common option, but may also include wind and other forms of generation.
Step 1: Read the following documents

- Technical requirements for the connection of distributed generation
Step 2: Advise Wellington Electricity via email of your connection proposal using the following form
- Application form for connection of distributed generation of ≤10kW

Step 3: Connect your distributed generation system by following the connection standards to enable generation into Wellington Electricity's network
Step 4: Notify Wellington Electricity via email of your connection using the following form
Step 5: Wellington Electricity will contact you to confirm receipt of your connection notification and, if correctly completed grant final approval or advise next steps
Distributed Generation (DG) Application Timeframes
